Toronto itself is one of the main characters in Tiffany and Matthews wedding. Malaparte is a relatively newer wedding venue (located in the TIFF Lightbox building) and it sports a beautiful rooftop view. You never forget for a second that you’re in the heart of the city. We hit the streets for a little stroll and, of course, some on-screen chit chat between the newlyweds. Often when I shoot that stuff it’s a very private experience… on King Street in TO you can’t help but get a little spontaneity thrown in. In those moments it’s probably best to go with the flow, and hope you don’t run into any pedestrians… or cars. Spoiler Alert: we lucked out this time :-)

ashley+dana

Ashley is the biggest sweetheart you’ll ever meet. She and Dana had met and “dated” when they were younger which, as I understand, was mostly an excuse to watch WWF wrestling together (something forbidden in her house at the time). Years later they reconnected online and realized there was more to their relationship than Hulkamania and body slams. Their quirky mutual loves include quoting Home Alone and Trailer Park Boys, yelling at passers-by from car windows, and their extra-affectionate dog, Marley.

Jimmy+Donna // Portrait Film

It’s always fun to premiere a video in front of a big, invested, live audience. And that was the case this past Saturday at Jimmy and Donna’s Graydon Hall wedding in Toronto (wedding video coming soon!). They had spent a beautiful afternoon earlier this summer hopping around the area, getting ice cream, roller-blading, and revisiting a park with special meaning to them. I love the spontaneity and energy we found at Kenneth Parkette, something that’s hard to plan for and nearly impossible to force. Heading to the location was a last minute addition to the plan—it wasn’t scouted, and we had no idea what we’d find there—but it evolved into one of the main threads of their story.
